Salary: $30.00 to $35.00 /hour
American Health Education in Dublin, CA is seeking part-time to full-time Principal EMT-Basic Instructor. Must be knowledgeable in the requirements set forth in the State of California and Safety Code, Title 22 and the National Standard Curriculum formulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Teaching Experience: Prefer at least five years teaching experience in an academic or clinical setting. This individual works with the program director and program clinical coordinator as qualified to teach topics to which he/she is assigned who shall be qualified by education and experience in methods, materials and evaluation of instruction. One of the following must be verified by documentation:
· California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) “Fire Instructor 1A and 1B”
· National Fire Academy (NFA) “Fire Service Instructional Methodology” course or equivalent
· A training program of at least 40 hours of teaching methodology that meets the U.S. DOT/National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 2002 Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors, such as the EMS Educator course of the National Association of EMS Educators
Experience: Provide evidence of documentation: Resume, Current EMT-B or EMT-P licenses/certifications, experience of at least three years in emergency medicine or pre-hospital care.
Teach, demonstrate assignment for each module/skills station assigned ensuring that instruction and curriculum is up-to-date and that effective delivery methods are utilized.
Provide course instruction based on approved syllabus/course lesson plans and ensure learning objectives are met.
Utilize a variety of teaching techniques to accommodate the learning styles of a diverse student enrollment.
Assist in the administration and grading of examinations.
Assist in curriculum development, implement changes and updates as required.
Assist in the development and retention of Externship sites (when called upon) for students through networking and building professional relationships within the EMS community.
Actively support student retention by keeping accurate daily attendance records and recording absentee information in a roster after each class meeting and communicating any attendance concerns to the EMT Coordinator.
Tutor and provide student assistance as needed.
Work with the EMT Coordinator to coordinate the activities associated with clinical rotations (scheduling, transportation, supervision, evaluation, etc.)
Maintain professional standards at all times.
Maintain necessary equipment and supplies inventory.
